The weekend started off with a reception in the office Friday afternoon. Steve attended that since he is at the office anyway. Then he came home and picked us up and we all went to the judge's house for hors d'euvres (yes, I had to look up that spelling) and wine (or for us soda & water). My favorite part about that night is that there were Secret Service Agents everywhere. I felt so protected, not that they were protecting me. The food was great and Alexis had fun running aroud & picking grapefruit.
On Saturday, Steve and Alex went to the Cubs' Spring Training game where the judge had rented a tent near the outfield. This was Alex's first sporting event. I don't know how much she really appreciated it.
That evening, we went to a big fancy dinner and cocktail (again, soda) party at the Doubletree in Scottsdale. We mingled, (I mean networked), took a couple of HUGE group photos and had dinner. During dinner there were several speakers (Janet, the judge, Steve's judge from last year and some former clerks.) They were all enjoyable to listen to (honestly).
Sunday morning there were bagels and coffee at the judge's house, but we did not attend.
this years clerks: Steve, John & Sarah
