National Zoo

Watching gorillas
Small hippo
Dancing elephant
Huge hippo
Crocodile
He sat like that forever
On the last day of our trip to DC we went to the National Zoo, which was awesome because it was FREE! Since it is winter, a few of the animals, it seemed, were on loan to other zoos. Almost all of the animals we saw are kept indoors during the winter, so we saw them really close up. Here are our favorites:
Mel: The beaver, he was fierce!
Steve: I think it was the gorillas
Alexis: Zebras
The night before when visiting friends, we were so ghetto enough to mooch water bottles from them. We took our mooched-water with us to the zoo and we were just minding our own business. One exhibit does not allow strollers, so we parked ours outside, grabbed our valuables and went in. We left the opened-and-already-drank-from water bottles in the cup holders of the stroller. We were inside for about 20 minutes. When we went outside to get the stroller, it was still there, but someone had actually stolen the water bottles. What was I thinking leaving my precious water behind? Who steals water? Kids, maybe. It seemed like there were mostly just families with little kids. I didn't see any teenagers or schools. The zoo was pretty empty. Maybe the person was dying and the only remedy for them to go on living, was water. Maybe they thought that since the zoo is free admission, water is free too. For the rest of our zoo adventure, I honestly drank from Alexis' sippy cup. What a pretty sight!

How sad, when the only thing you can remember about he zoo was someone stealing your water. What is the world coming too? I bet it was a parent who told their little kid to go and take them, I wouldn't be surprised!

I didn't mean that was THE ONLY thing you remembered. I just meant it is sad when not even a half drunk water bottle is safe! Where is the picture of the beaver????
